Rachel Tcheungna age 7 one of my best memories: Catholic Holy Communion Day Picture alongside with my elder brother Bernard. He wasn’t happy due to his attire. The dress was not my favourite either. I wanted a lace dress, and he wanted a tuxedo. Our elder sister said it was not a wedding context, she was backed up by Dad and we both compromised.

Rachel Tcheungna age 9. “I had  the most amazing and atypical childhood and teenage-hood one could ever dream of. Ngoumou near Yaoundé in Cameroun, for a walk with my brother Bernard and my nephew Sandrin. Once voted the sexiest picture ever by my class mates in year 7. Tcheungna never knew why? Maybe it was the hair cut as she had very long and thick hair, or the striking contrast between the seemingly city look and the picture background of the abandoned house. “ The Bridge MAG.Image

By News That Never Fades, the writer means that what her book does differently to all the other books in the news field/category is that its media coverage and advice is long term not short term weekly/daily doses.

Her books contain a more investigative, proactive and solution-orientated approach for news whilst being supported by verified academic sources.

Her books are solution-orientated as they aid the public to make judicious choices throughout the tumultuous and constant bourgeoning conflict of the current world.

Her books include a variety of topics: professional premier league and world class footballers, renowned economists, missing children and crucial parenting tips on how to avoid devastating experiences such as the traumatic cases of Madeleine McCann and Stephen Lawrence.

Rachel Tcheungna attended the same school as one of the sons of the current Cameroonian President. (College de la Retraite de Yaoundé.) She is not mentioning that in a name-dropping way. Just giving a hint of how elite the school was. Plus she had a private tutor in every single subject. The only subject she did not have a private tutor for was in PE. The Bridge MAG. Image

With the widespread trend of social media culture, people nowadays tend to share  a snap of everything about themselves with their followers and/or subscribers  on a daily basis.

Rachel Tcheungna in her early twenties. In the second year of her Law degree: Faculty of Law and Economics Sciences of Yaoundé in Cameroon, Ngoa Ekelle Campus. The editor has nothing against that. Although being an extrovert, she  is the type of person who believes that one may draw a sharp  distinction between their social and private/personal life.

Rachel Tcheungna took the reckless decision to leave the Faculty of Law and Economics Sciences University of Yaoundé in Cameroun, Ngoa Ekelle Campus, to fly to Sénégal to retake the second year of her Law course at the Faculty of Law and Economics Sciences of Cheikh Anta Diop in Dakar , Sénégal. The editor believes people need a minimum of privacy to be happy.  For that reason, there are details about her personal life she tends to keep quiet. She will also mention people’s first names only, not the surnames, to keep confidentiality.

When Rachel Tcheungna was offered the opportunity to train as a British journalist, she grabbed the opportunity and chose investigative journalism for her special studies, which explains her full passion in investigative journalism which is the pivotal point where Law and Journalism merge.   The Bridge MAG. Childhood

She had  the most amazing and atypical childhood and teenage-hood one could ever dream of. She was born and grew up in Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon, in a modest family, but has lived and enjoyed a happy and joyful life many rich kids had never had the opportunity to enjoy. She lived in Sénégal and France, has travelled in several countries and has settled in Britain.

The Bridge MAG. Image

Being the youngest child of six with elder brothers and sisters (Justine, Bernadette, Raymond, Marie, Victor, Bernard )  who were all working and successful in their professions had a domino effect on her living standards. She was loved, protected, and spoiled by her parents, brothers and sisters.

Rachel Tcheungna  boarded her first plane at age 7 (it was a military plane)  to leave with Justine,  the eldest of the family who was appointed Head of Social Services [for the Department for] Diplomatic Affairs of Koutaba, Navy Official for Nursery  children and families of the military.  Koutaba is  a town and  commune in Cameroon.

Never in her life had she  lived in such a beautiful house. The mansion was fully furnished built in a military style. She had the opportunity to choose the most expensive, elite and educational toys in the warehouse before children of colonels and commandants as her sister Justine  was the Head of Social Services.

Back to Yaoundé, the capital, at age nine, she travelled to Ngoumou ( Yaoundé)  with her other sister, Bernadette  who currently owns a successful Private Bilingual School, La Rochelle, in Yaoundé Cameroun.

From 10 to her late twenties

More modelling pictures The Bridge MAG. Image

From 10 to her late twenties one of her brothers Raymond flew back from Clermont Ferrand  (France) to support the family. He was the financial pillar of the family at the time.

He managed to land a high-ranking paid job as  The Deputy Director of FONADER bank in Yaoundé . FONADER ( Fonds National De Développement Rural )  National Rural Development Fund Bank .

This had a domino effect on Rachel Tcheungna’s education and teenage-hood as through her brother she had the opportunity not only to mingle with rich kids but she also attended the most prestigious Catholic primary high school and bilingual high school in the capital/ college de la Retraite de Yaoundé.

She attended the same school as one of the sons of the current Cameroonian President. She is not mentioning that in a name-dropping way. Just giving a hint of how elite the school was. Plus she had a private tutor in every single subject. The only subject she did not have a private tutor for was in PE.

She benefited from getting pocket money from all her six  brothers and sisters, more than she really needed. It was worth more than a civil servant salary in Cameroon. She grew up in  a genuinely loving and altruistic family environment where nothing was manufactured.

Not to mention the £ 250,000 worth duplex her brother Victor once bought for their parents as a family house in SIC Mendong / Yaoundé.

Rachel Tcheungna has never been put under pressure to deliver academically but always had a sense of great guilt if she failed an exam, as she knew she had to give something back. She was too spoilt to afford to bring back bad results.

She took the reckless decision to leave the Faculty of Law and Economics Sciences Université of  Yaoundé in  Cameroun, Ngoa Ekelle Campus, to fly to Sénégal to retake the second year of her Law course at Cheikh Anta Diop Dakar in  Sénégal.

She was extremely  lucky  the night before her flight to have her uncle’s contact details ( Uncle Richard)  , a high-ranking Diplomat , Expert of the United Nations ( Who eventually, cancelled an important Flight and mission to Ethiopia)  to welcome her at Dakar Airport with his wife Esther  ( mostly known in the family as Maveun DADA) and his family who had supported her throughout her studies in Sénégal.

Background Studies.

Rachel Tcheungna was fortunate to have the opportunity to attend one of the best Bilingual Grammar colleges of Yaoundé, the first and only one at the time close to Lycée Général –Leclerc (Yaoundé), Bilingual High School of Yaoundé located at Essos,  was the only  Bilingual high school in town at the  time .

Moreover, private schools  have shaped and solidified her editorial background and knowledge.  A levels in English and French Literature, Spanish, Philosophy, Mathematics, Science, Physics , Chemistry, geography … and World History gave her enough tools to embrace Law Studies with confidence.

She had always dreamed of being a corporate lawyer  or an international journalist.  As a focused and dedicated law student she was almost convinced she would be signing oil contracts in a Venezuelan law firm. In the second year of her Law course, she started to lose confidence in herself when her father became critically ill.

She thus left her dream of becoming a successful oil

company lawyer to achieve a BTech in Hotel Management in Dakar Senegal. From The private Training School in Hotel Management – in  Ecole Hotelier de Dakar .L’Ecole Nationale de Formation Hôtelière et Touristique (ENFHT), 2 Avenue Hassan II EX Albert Sarrault.

She was left with a feeling of academic dissatisfaction in the back of her mind. She had the opportunity to practice for a short period of time as a 5 star hotel receptionist at Meridian Président Dakar,  Café de Rome, a high profile people coffee and business centre in Sénégal.

She didn’t even have time to practice and when she was offered  the opportunity to train as a British journalist, she grabbed the opportunity and chose investigative journalism for her special studies, which explains her full passion in investigative journalism which is the pivotal point where Law and Journalism merge.

Since her early childhood, and her teenage hood, Rachel has been highly and frequently solicited by world class professional photographers who find her photogenic. (Whether in Cameroon, Senegal, France or the UK). Modelling agencies are keen to promote and showcase her remarkable beauty and promise to support her in the fashion industry/ modelling career.

The most recent was in a renowned London modelling agency, which offered her a series of free photoshoots that she took with her and kept, and she had modelled in front of a jury of fashion professionals/ modelling experts who found her to be an exceptional candidate.

Rachel politely declined the offer to sign a modelling contract as she believed her literary gifts as a journalist and writer would benefit humanity better than her physical prowess as a model. The agency gave her her modelling portfolio, a certificate that attests to her exceptional modelling skills, and asked the journalist and writer to get back to them if she ever changed her mind.

A special thanks to All my former lecturers at Kingston University in London /UK, to investigative journalists, journalists, to sportsmen, athletes, lawyers, accountants, economists, to the whole team at The Bridge Magazine.

A special thanks to our readers from around the world. Our readers are the reason why I keep holding on to the pen, pencil and keyboard despite the stresses that I experience in digital journalism. Thank you for giving me enough courage and support to keep the flame burning: it keeps my love for writing alive.

Thank you ALL for being part of my success.

With Love.
