Orchidée’ s verses. On March 8th 2023, to celebrate International Women’s Day, The Bridge Magazine shared again its Young Contributor’s pieces of photography, drawings and poem all composed when she was 9. The poem could arguably be rated as a classic, as not only its components are of a high quality but also appeals to many generations. It is an all in one happy birthday poem to her mother, and indirectly, to wish a Happy International Women’s Day to all women around the world.

We are living in an era where social media diminishes human value as a whole and women’s worthiness as an individual or part of society in particular.
There couldn’t be a better timing to republish a hymn that praises and celebrates women to bring hope, confidence and a sense of worthiness to the ‘’weak gender’’.
From objectification to sexualisation via no access to education, living standards, not to mention violence in all shapes and forms.
Women’s rights to peaceful upbringing are frequently being overlooked and sabotaged/compromised.
According to recent statistics:
On sex exploitation
According to Britannica ProCon. ORG Reliable Nonpartisan Empowering:
“ Worldwide there is an estimation of 40-42 million prostitutes. While these statistics about prostitution are just touching the surface, they indicate the extent of the sex-for-sale industry worldwide.
-
80 percent of the world population of prostitutes are female and range in age between 13-25.
-
90 percent of all prostitutes are dependent on a pimp.
There are an estimated 1-2 million prostitutes in the United States…”
And services as prostitutes. Some are forced into the trade due to human traffickers, while others enter the trade due to financial hardships…
The number of prostitutes by country (few of them are listed below) were collected from a wide range of public sources.
Among the sources included :security services estimates, reporting by public health programs, and others monitoring data from global criminal justice programs.

On women sexual harassment at work.
STUC Women’s Committee releases shocking new data on sexual harassment at work.
On the eve of International Women’s Day, the STUC has revealed survey data exposing widespread sexual harassment in the workplace, the systemic under-reporting of sexual harassment by victims and the risks to women travelling to and from work.
“45% of women have experienced sexual harassment at work.
1/3 of women have experienced sexual harassment at work within the last year
85% of women said that their report and experience was not taken seriously and dealt with appropriately.
61% of respondents have experienced sexual harassment in public and on their way to work.”
It is believed women do not often report sexual harassment as complaints are usually mishandled, no action is to be taken or sometimes bosses and colleagues don’t even believe them.
On women domestic violence
The Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW) estimated that: “5.0% of adults (6.9% women) aged 16 years and over experienced domestic abuse in the year ending March 2022; this equates to an estimated (1.7 million women).”
On pregnancy-related deaths
A woman’s death during pregnancy, at delivery, or soon after delivery is ALWAYS a tragedy for her family and for society as a whole.
But sadly, a recent report from The World Health Organisation ( WHO) is unbelievably high About 287 000 women died during and following pregnancy and childbirth in 2020.
Almost 95% of all maternal deaths occurred in low and lower middle-income countries in 2020, and most could have been prevented.
There is still a lot to do to prevent women’s death toll rate worldwide as a result of pregnancy or delivery complications.
Not to mention other issues such as the pay gap between men and women, eating disorders and body image, sexual and reproductive rights, honour crimes and female genital mutilation.
With all the aforementioned issues, women’s existence, effort to be loved ,acknowledge as little girls, friends, sister raising children, being a girl’s friend, partner, wives, mothers or just normal human being might feel un acknowledged.
But International Women’s Day, Orchid’s poem and all others ….are there to remind all women around the world that their existence and effort to make this world a better place to live in are not in vain.
As we celebrated International Women’s Day, The Bridge Magazine shared a poem by a its young contributor.
It has almost become a tradition for our editorial to reintroduce this poem which could arguably be rated as a classic.
Awarded Young Reporter of the year 2018 by Sutton Guardian and The Richmond Times, for publishing articles regularly for eight months, Orchidée Wafo, also known as Orchid, shares one of her poems written in 2009.
On March 7th2022, speaking to Orchidée Wafo, about her poem not only did she give her approval to our editorial to share her piece once again as her contribution to pay tribute to all women around the world, but she also, last year when asked, shared her thoughts about the event in these words:
“Women’s day is a special day as it commemorates the special beings that are women. I believe women are the essence of life as they bear and produce life thus are people who should be respected and loved all year round.”
If ”Women are the very essence of life: because they carry life within themselves through (pregnancy) and give life through (childbirth).”
To quote our Young Collaborator: We presume that International Women’s Day should also be a key day to celebrate Women (protectors of life and humanity).
It is also a day to alert humanity of the malignance and cruelties perpetuated by ‘humans’ who metaphorically embody beasts and monsters that deliberately and metaphorically feed on their own species and get away with it.
They sacrifice the lives of their children for the sadist and disturbed minds for not only themselves but for online gratification.
Thus, their embodiment of monsters as these parents enjoy destroying their own children who symbolise the trauma of future generations.
URGENT NEED FOR A ROBUST GLOBAL CHILD PROTECTION SYSTEM.
A recent survey from February 2023, regarding Online Child Rape: in England and worldwide: it is estimated that:
more than 327 French and thousands of other Westerners are suspected of ordering this vile surreptitious form of child abuse.
The Bridge Magazine urges Governments across the UK and around the world to URGENTLY pass draconian laws and penalties to crack down and STOP child abuse (which is defined as All sexual violence committed against a minor according to the Larousse Online Dictionary).
Every day, little humans: the adults of tomorrow are sexually destroyed by adults and condemned to live the hell of the trauma of having been sexually abused.
There is an extremely severe, alarming, inconceivable and cruel form of child abuse that is spreading like an insidious venom at breakneck speed.
The sexual violations and rape of children including all other forms of sexual violence against children is illustrated via live streaming by children’s parents for profit.
This new form of sexual abuse online includes thousands of Westerners who pay these children’s parents to witness unforgivable and obscene acts for deranged sexual pleasures.
The young victims are generally between the ages of 4 and 9 and are generally from Southeast Asia: the Philippines, Malaysia…In the Philippines, thousands of children are said to be sexually abused, tortured, with parental consent to satisfy the macabre sexual orientations of criminals for money.
Although written at a tender age, Orchid’s poem is not only of a high quality but also appeals to many generations hence why it has the merit to be republished on International Women’s Day as long as it is topical and we received Orchid’s formal approval.
Orchidée’s managed (at only 9 years of age) to convey the complexity of her emotions throughout her poem: she remained focused on the main idea, whilst telling a story that moves emotionally whilst each reader could paint a visual picture as they go deep in the poem. Orchidée only used the words her poem needed and it feels good to read.
That is quite an achievement: it is not an exaggeration to rate her poem as a classic.
For a 9 years old to be able to put all this together, the poem deserves and has the merit to be classified as a classic.
As a reminder, Orchidée Wafo is The Bridge Magazine’s Young Contributor who was awarded at age 17 Young Reporter of the year 2018 by
The Sutton Guardian and the Richmond Times for publishing articles regularly for eight months, and also has a keen talent of writing poetry from the age of 9.
Orchidée Wafo has been a contributor to The Bridge Magazine for over a decade and is currently a university Post graduate Law student in a high-ranking university in London/ UK.
Orchid is a bright Law student who has achieved her Undergraduate Law degree with a high grade.
The now High- Profile Student is currently completing an LLM Law Masters/LPC Postgraduate and is a Corporate Lawyer to be.
Despite all the aforementioned vicissitudes that englobe women’s lives from their birth throughout their existence and death, a hymn from a childhood poem is there to remind them of their worthiness as humans, and how loved they all are.
Below is Orchid’s aforementioned poem.
Dear Mum,
Our love is more powerful than anything, Our love is pure, it is the one and only thing;
Our love is an island full of emotions, Holds secrets yet to be discovered –devotions
Easily discoverable; it is full of the magical;
Our love is a bond no one can break,
Our love is a spell that no one can shake,
Our love is a mountain, it has highs and lows,
Our love is a waterfall, it flows;
Our love is too special to give away,
Our love expects no one to pay;
Our love is a treasure,
Our love is a pleasure,
Our love can sometimes be hard for the heart But our love can never break apart;
Our love is a mystery, a gift, Our love is the sky, its clouds so swift…
You are my branches, I am the tree;
You are my soul, I am your body; You are everything to me – You help me look even when I can see,
You help me listen even when I can hear,
You help me judge even when I can think, You are my inspiration, my love,
You are my hopes and dreams from above – I love you with all my heart and always will
Though we go through ups and downs of life’s hills;
We guide, help, listen, teach, and love each other
Every single day, but most importantly, this day Have A Happy Birthday!
With love, from Orchidée …
