Merry Christmas to the children in war zones and disadvantaged children from around the world. The Bridge Magazine welcomes and shares once again ‘A magical Christmas’: another poem from its young contributor, Maître Orchidée Wafo, composed when she was 9 years old. It was a poem to wish Merry Christmas mostly to all children around the world!

It has become a tradition to devote our December world exclusive editorial to highlighting the plight of children caught up in the world’s various vicissitudes.
For an infant, to come out of their way, to put aside their Lego toys, their baby dolls, their favourite school play, their favourite holiday trip, let alone their favourite food, dress and sweets, to conceive and express their Merry Christmas wishes on pen and paper without an adult’s advice!
This is how and why Orchid Wafo’s poem has continuously been selected by our editorial to wish Merry Christmas to all children around the world!
Unless a child’s mind has been corrupted by ill-intentioned adults, a child’s thoughts and wishes are pure, genuine, sincere and comes from within.
Globally, living in “extreme poverty” means surviving on less than $2.15 US Dollars a day.
UNICEF latest statistics on children living in extreme poverty worldwide leaves dumbstruck:
“15.9 percent as in some 333 million children live in extreme poverty, surviving on less than $2.15 each day. While extreme poverty is an issue increasingly concentrated in Sub-Saharan Africa, even in some of the world’s wealthiest countries, millions of children are affected by poverty.”
Uncertainty for children’s right to peaceful upbringings is all-pervasive.
Child poverty and suffering endangers the human species to future extinction.
In his successful book entitled The New Rulers of The World published in 2001, the late award-winning Investigative Journalist, author, film maker once analysed the new global economy and revealed how the divisions between the rich and poor have never been greater as – two thirds of the world’s children live in poverty –
An analysis of a new global economy run by government backed multinational companies who are further widening the gulf between the rich and the poor.
In these words:
“A small group of powerful individuals are now richer than most of the population of Africa. Just 200 giant corporations dominate a quarter of the world’s economic activity… The famous brands of almost everything from running shoes to baby clothes are now made in very poor countries with cheap labour, at times bordering on a form of slave labour.”
Pilger concluded with his own prescription:
“Why not abolish the World Bank and the IMF and the World Trade Organization, and replace them with genuine trade and development institutions that are democratically accountable? And why not cancel a debt that condemns nations like Indonesia to poverty and disease?”
The late John Richard Pilger: born October 9th, 1939 in Sydney, Australia and died December 30th, 2023 in London United Kingdom, was an Australian Investigative Journalist, author, filmmaker and director.
The questions that burn the lips are: why?
Why is the parallel so striking?
Why has our civilised world sought to strive for technology perfection but has fallen swiftly so low on humans’ values?
Maybe the 1% of the world population living in insolent luxury has an answer to the aforementioned questions.
Poverty and the suffering of children endanger the sustainability of the human species.
The number of children currently trapped in poverty around the world is inconceivable!
Regardless of the geographical detail, the rights of children to a peaceful education and harmonious development seem irremediably compromised.
While awaiting most of the world population to understand that the love of humanity is one of the key cures to poverty and most of humanity’s plight, below is Maître Orchidée Wafo’s poem composed at the age of 9.
Our young collaborator, currently qualified as a bilingual Corporate Lawyer, once again gives our editorial permission to publish one of her childhood poems. It was a poem to wish a Merry Christmas to all children around the world!
A childhood wish is believed to come true as it is usually a sincere yearning that comes from deep within.
A childhood wish is able to move mountains, find the missing, overpower the existing, and thus improve the future.
Below is Orchid’s aforementioned poem.
A Magical Christmas
Christmas – a time of joy, happiness and love,
A magical time tinselled with stars above.
Christmas – so many colours: red, white, brown, green; A festival of light igniting my delight.
Christmas – a wonder, a treasure, a miracle Summoned by a baby in a manger long ago.
Christmas – most beautiful time of the year:
Bright lights fill winter streets spreading cheer.
Christmas – children playing in piling snow;
Girls hoping for kisses under the mistletoe.
Christmas – the wise men followed the star
Which led to a gathering round a warm fire.
Christmas carols sung by children’s choirs;
Robins chorusing from berried hedgerows.
All believers in the Christmas spirit raise
Your cups to fellowship and togetherness –Make sure you have yourself a MERRY CHRISTMAS.
A poem by Maître Orchidée Wafo
We hope Orchid’s Christmas wishes poem will rise and become triumphant by having a healing impact on children suffering worldwide.
Not to mention, a peaceful Christmas to children’ souls who have lost their lives before Christmas.
The Bridge Magazine wishes:
Merry Christmas to the hundreds of girls as young as 2, used as sexual workers – as war tactics by rebels in DR Congo who are now condemned to suffer and live with trauma and HIV after being raped by HIV -positive men!
Merry Christmas to the underage girls in DR Congo, victims of sexual violence used as a war tactic by the rebels.
Girls who become pregnant at 9 years old will either die or suffer from obstetric fistula, a tear between the vagina and the rectum, which can occur during childbirth and leave them disabled for life!
Merry Christmas to the thousands of children victims of A Textbook Genocide unfolding live in Gaza due to the Israeli-Palestinian ongoing conflict!
Merry Christmas to children, victims of sexual abuse and underage marriage, as the age of consent is lowered in several countries around the world!
Merry Christmas to the tens of thousands of children whose parents or tutors would not be able to afford a decent meal this Christmas, let alone afford paying an electricity bill or shelter!
Merry Christmas to the tens of thousands of children stuck in abject poverty!
Merry Christmas to all children in war zones!
Merry Christmas to all the disadvantaged children around the globe!
Merry Christmas to all children victims of medical malpractice!
Merry Christmas to the children who are victims of police blunders!
Merry Christmas to children, victims of parental neglect!
Merry Christmas to children, victims of tribalism, racism!
Merry Christmas to children, victims of social exclusion, family exclusion!
Merry Christmas to children, victims of sexual tourism, child trafficking, organs trafficking!
Merry Christmas to children who have been adopted to gain money and publicity then dropped and betrayed after being used!
Merry Christmas to children who have been betrayed and dumped by a father, or a mother!
Merry Christmas to all underprivileged children around the world!
Merry Christmas to every child around the world!
Merry Christmas to all children around the world!

Dear All,
As a reminder, our editorial ALWAYS vividly condemn war. Whatever the reason. Our editorial SAYS NO TO WAR.
This December, The Bridge Magazines 🌍 🗞️wishes:
Merry Christmas to the hundreds of girls as young as 2, used as sexual workers – as war tactics by rebels in DR Congo who are now condemned to suffer and live with trauma and HIV after being raped by HIV -positive men!
Merry Christmas to the underage girls in DR Congo, victims of sexual violence used as a war tactic by the rebels. Chers tous, chères toutes,
A titre de rappel, notre éditorial condamne TOUJOURS avec véhémence la guerre. Peu importe la raison. Notre éditorial DIT NON À LA GUERRE.
Ce décembre, The Bridge Magazine 🌍 🗞️ souhaite :
Bien cordialement,
L’Éditrice
