It took A Textbook Genocide unfolding live in Gaza to make the world sit up and pay attention to the civilian death toll in Palestine.

To paraphrase The Weeknd and Ariana Grande’s iconic duo, we at The Bridge Magazine cannot “save our tears for another day”.

Our heart is sinking for not being able to bring all those lives back.

Death toll Statistics in Palestine, Sudan, Congo…are unfathomable:

Every single life lost counts: no matter the geographical distance, the lid has yet to be lifted on the scale of mysterious deaths that befall children, civilians living in war zones or in abject poverty or under inhuman conditions worldwide. In Palestine

The Gaza issue is believed to be traced back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

It is believed the unfolding Israeli-Palestinian conflict has 42 relatives of a single man wiped out, over 3200 children killed and 11 universities bombed in Palestine, forcing authorities to announce the premature end of the academic year 2023-2024 in Gaza.

Gaza’s Ministry of National Education said: “Due to the martyrdom of many of our students, the 2023/2024 academic year has come to an end.”

Several hospitals have been bombed. Israeli Minister of Defence Yoav Gallant on October 9th 2023 declared: “We are imposing a complete siege on Gaza. No electricity, no food, no water, no fuel. Everything is closed.”

A Textbook Genocide is one that wipes out all the intelligentsia of a whole generation.

According to the online Thesaurus, the intelligentsia are intellectuals or highly educated people as a group, especially when regarded as possessing culture and political influence.

URGENT: It is believed girls in Gaza are chemically destroying their periods due to a severe lack of sanitary products or water to disinfect and prevent toxic shock syndrome: this is alarming.

The gruesome genocide is artificially putting a halt on young women’s menstrual cycle, killing by so doing female youth that was supposed to bear male and or female children for the next generation.

In Sudan

Remember Darfur, DO NOT ignore the killing of children and civilians in Sudan.

Shocking facts: It is believed over 5.10 million are displaced since April 2023, in addition to the 1.2 million displaced before the war, bringing it to a total of over 7.1 million overall.

10 000 have been killed in Sudan, 900 000 are homeless and displaced.

As previously published in 2011, in one of our successful articles entitled The Ugly face of High-Tech,

According to a report from the International Peace Information Service (IPIS), updated, over 50 per cent of Congolese school children are forced to kneel and dig in the underground mines with their bare hands.

Every day, foreign mining companies are smuggling coltan out of the Democratic Republic of Congo illegally.

The illegal trafficking of coltan has stolen Congolese children’s childhood, enslaving millions of them digging coltan from dawn to sunset for 20 cents a day. This is the same coltan which trades on western black market £350 a pound.

Coltan is one of the key components in most electronics namely: aeroplanes, trains, computers…   and mobiles phones.

Our editorial launches a wake up call to The World Leaders to be prompt to act accordingly to stop the horror and shock in Palestine, Darfur, Congo and around the world.

The Common denominator of Gaza, Sudan, Congo… wars and genocides is rooted in economic profit and greed:

Gaza’s gas is worth over $500 billion and many countries covet it.

Sudan is one of the major producers of gold in Africa: 80 to 90% of that gold is smuggled out of the country daily at the cost of Darfuris lives.

Congo’s coltan, colbat …and the country’s untapped mineral resources. A natural blessing that has almost turned into a curse:

as over decades the richest part of Congo DRC has been classified strategic by the Pentagon, thus, a red zone.

Meaning, only Embedded Journalism is permitted: Not any ordinary journalist can access the area for coverage. Thus, resulting in the Congolese being displaced worldwide due to the permanent insecurity in their country.

According to The French philosopher Henri Bergson, who won the Nobel Prize in literature 1927, experience has proved technological development of a society does not automatically result in the moral perfection of the men living in it. Bergson advised that mechanical progress should be accompanied by morals to prevent the modern man to turn into a monster. If morality does not follow high-tech evolution, man will turn against man and destroy one another until nothing is left. Since 1927, Bergson’s philosophy has continued to endure, but it seems like the 21st century high tech is back at square one, with neither soul nor morals being accompanied at the same degree of inventions. Unlike what some may have been taught to believe, combining Ethics, economic growth and wealth is possible:

Modern humans MUST add a soul to their scientific, economic, medical … prowess’s in a bid to learn how to value their kind:  not only in terms of pecuniary worth, or the reward they get in return, but most importantly, to their inner worth as humans.

When humans are too blinded by greed or profit, it poisons their morals, alters their psyche and Ethics, leading them to lose their moral compass.

But darker still, are the shadowy workings of global capitalism; in particular, the armaments trade, which profits all wars and genocide. Threading throughout both the Gaza imbroglio and the ambiguous silent genocide in Sudan, Congo… is the black comedy of arms manufactures. Are the real culprits behind the world’s armed conflicts the arms capitalists? In terms of material gains through business and profits, they would seem to be the main –if only– beneficiaries of war, genocide.  The Bridge MAG. Image

Bergson raised awareness on a widespread belief of his century: that the spectacular progress in mechanical invention will automatically raise the moral level of mankind.

The ugly truth: warmongers, “merchants of death” and the ethical meltdown of arms capitalism.

Arms manufacturers from around the world have always been skilled at shaping and manipulating peoples’ consciences and behaviours in order to divide, wreak havoc, and then to exploit and gain profit from doing so.

As long as there is instability throughout the world, there is potential to help tip random nations into war zones and consequently perpetuate a profitable arms trade.

In his 1998 book, Hidden Agendas, Chapter 2, ‘Flying the Flag, Arming the World’, John Pilger wrote: “Today, Britain is the world’s second largest arms exporter after the United States. In no other export sector is Britain so successful as in the arms business.

Gaza has needlessly turned into a global ‘Dreyfus Affair’ of the modern era in that the whole world has been divided into two sides. While the historical and moral roots of the Israeli-Palestine conflict are obfuscated for profit by arms manufacturers, the world’s witnesses are being split into two attitudinal camps: the pro-Israeli and anti-Israeli; just as in the ‘Dreyfus affair’ when, a few centuries ago, those who supported Dreyfus (‘Dreyfusards’), and those who condemned him (the ‘anti-Dreyfusards’), were split. The ‘Dreyfus Affair’ was a political scandal that divided French opinion from its inception in 1894 until its resolution in 1906. It is usually seen as a modern and universal paradigm for state-facilitated injustice. The ‘Dreyfus Affair’ remains one of the most compelling examples of ambiguous miscarriages of justice where the major role was played by the press and public opinion. The Bridge MAG. Image

Gaza has needlessly turned into a global ‘Dreyfus Affair’ of the modern era in that the whole world has been divided into two sides.

While the historical and moral roots of the Israeli-Palestine conflict are obfuscated for profit by arms manufacturers, the world’s witnesses are being split into two attitudinal camps:

the pro-Israeli and anti-Israeli; just as in the ‘Dreyfus affair’ when, a few centuries agothose who supported Dreyfus (‘Dreyfusards’), and those who condemned him (the ‘anti-Dreyfusards’), were split.

It is usually seen as a modern and universal paradigm for state-facilitated injustice. The ‘Dreyfus Affair’ remains one of the most compelling examples of ambiguous miscarriages of justice where the major role was played by the press and public opinion.

But to think outside of the ‘Dreyfus’ paradigm, if we ask ourselves, who are the real beneficiaries of the arms trade?

Then we will find that the true culprits behind such conflicts are not actually its protagonists, but those who supply the weapons to its protagonists.

From either side, whatever the reason, the killing of innocent civilians is wrong and cannot be justified in any supposedly civilised world. If there is one abiding metaphor that best sums up our predicament as humans, it is surely that we all board the same boat of the human race; and the boat will hit the iceberg if governments cannot see beyond their own greed and or their selfish reasons to profit from arms manufacturers, provoke and fuel wars- they must start focusing on shaping humanity’s future, rather than destroying it. At a time when the world is witnessing a globalisation of terror and war, the point here and now regarding the Gaza issue is not about which side is wrong or right, or whether we are pro- or anti-Israel.

It is about raising awareness among populations, regardless of their geographical locations, that war and conflict are the products of global capitalism. This will help prevent civilians from being manipulated by arms manufacturers who will always come out with vile excuses to fuel war, terror, and, consequently, their profitable arms trade.

Toward conflict resolution and peace

Skilful spin doctors are constantly helping arms manufacturers to ‘justify’ the killing and destruction of generations for their own narrow economic interests. They will even euphemise the human costs of conflicts as ‘collateral damage’.

Encouraging a state of armed conflict between different nations or states, or different groups within a nation or state, is unequivocally wrong.

We can only conclude that if international capitalism is dependent on perpetuating global conflicts in order to sustain its economic productivity, then it has not only completely lost its moral compass, but has also lost its right to continue in its current form.

From either side, whatever the reason, the killing of innocent civilians is wrong and cannot be justified in any supposedly civilised world.

British and other Western powers have built their empires on war and the arms trade.

The world is in a permanent climate of insecurity, terror and war.  Unregulated greed and selfishness have taken their toll on 21st century humanity.

Our ethical development could take centuries to catch up as it has been misaligned from a human moral benchmark therefore, one major task facing us today is to create reconciliation between the continents of the world.

    Dear All,

A massive thank you for all your comments and words of encouragement that I receive on a daily basis regarding my articles.

Just to note: if I do not reply to your comments individually it is because there is an overload of comments in my dashboard but I do see all your feedback and comments and we, the team at The Bridge Magazine 🗞🌍 are eternally grateful.

    Kind Regards,
    The Editor 🗞🌍

    Bien cordialement,

    L’Éditrice🗞🌏

    Rachel Tcheungna
