‘A Magical Christmas’: This season, The Bridge Magazine welcomes and shares once again another poem from its young contributor, Orchidée Wafo, composed when she was 9 years old. It was a poem to wish Merry Christmas mostly to all children around the world!

This magazine is best known to stick to its editorial guidelines. It has become a tradition of our publication to devote our December world exclusive editorial to highlighting the plight of children caught up in the world’s various vicissitudes.
From the UK’s thousands of children stuck in abject poverty due to the cost of living crisis, to Cameroonian infants caught up in the ongoing Anglophone crisis, to those children, lost in the midst of havoc as The Russian Ukraine war continues, to list just a few. Uncertainty for children’s right to peaceful upbringings is all-pervasive.
Child poverty and suffering endangers the human species to future extinction .
The number of children currently trapped in poverty in UK and across the world is unthinkable.’ Over 14.5 million people are living in poverty in the UK. That includes 4.3 million children.’ The Joseph Rowntree Foundation revealed on September 2022:

We give one more time a voice to a child, that of our young contributor via her poem (written when she was an infant) to send a message of peace and social justice, not only to children in war zones, but also to other disadvantaged infants in the UK and all the children worldwide.

Magical Christmas
Christmas – a time of joy, happiness and love,
A magical time tinselled with stars above.

Christmas – so many colours: red, white, brown, green; A festival of light igniting my delight.
Christmas – a wonder, a treasure, a miracle Summoned by a baby in a manger long ago.
Christmas – most beautiful time of the year:
Bright lights fill winter streets spreading cheer.
Christmas – children playing in piling snow;

This December is not about analysing each case individually. The peculiar element of Orchidée’s religious art work is that the faces always remain unfinished. When asked as to the reason why, she replied:
“It defies the principle of a supernatural entity’s identity to remain ambiguous to the human eye. It can only subsequently be fully revealed to a person after death.”
