As a young Israeli actor lands the lead role in the movie Mike, it brings back memories of the eponymous European Israeli-born Seventies star.

Award-winning filmmaker Eytan Fox is to release the biopic of the worldwide phenomenon Israeli singer Mike Brant, who committed suicide in Paris aged 28.

According to the producers, the film is set to be released by the second half of 2016.

Of Mike Brand, Eytan Fox once said: “Mike Brant was complex, incredibly gorgeous and charismatic. He had that rare star quality: he was modest and genuine.’’

Mike Brant’s most famous song, “Laisse moi t’aimer” (‘Let me love you’) sold more than 50,000 copies within the first two weeks of its release, a huge number in France in the Seventies.

Brant became a currency himself by performing over 250 concerts a year around the world.
